The Queen crashes a wedding

Ok, she didn't really crash the wedding, she was invited. A couple discovered that their wedding was in the same location as an event that Queen Elizabeth II was attending..so being thoughtful people, they invited her. And being pretty awesome, she showed up.

The Queen and John and Frances Canning

As a random aside, you can apparently send invitations to Mickey and Minnie Mouse (or Cinderella, or Snow White, Prince Charming..any Disney character) and you'll get a congratulatory autograph picture back. Isn't that sweet?

You can also send one to the American President and First Lady (all the Presidents of the USA do this) and get a congratulatory card back.

Also...while browsing wedding boards looking for info about Mickey and Minnie Mouse, I found that you can also write to...

The Queen of England (but only if you're British...sorry fellow Americans, we lost our congratulation cards right after throwing all that tea into the harbor! whoops... :) ) As a non-Brit, I'm not sure on all the protocol but I think they prefer (as in the Queen and co.) that you send it to the Secretary and not to her personally. There was a forum in Canada that said Prince Charles would also write letters, but since I honestly am completely clueless about royalty stuff, I'd leave that to others to figure out.

I'm not catholic, so I don't know all the logistics, BUT, the Pope (or someone) will grant a papal blessing for the wedding. I think you either contact the Vatican (www.vatican.va) or go through your local parish or diocese. Or if you happen to be in Vatican City, you might be able to arrange a blessing. I'm not too sure how it works to be fair but you have to Catholic.

The Queen showing up was honestly special, please don't expect any of these people to actually show up y'all. Any President is too busy to come to your wedding...no matter how special you think it is (and it is, promise!)

But I think some governors, senators, representatives, mayors, former Presidents and First Ladies, other celebrities (like Dolly Parton or Oprah...supposedly) will gladly send congratulatory cards (pre-printed stuff y'all) as well. I suppose it's up to the bride and groom to decide who they might like to get a keepsake from. I would assume that all fan-mail (including invitations) are going through agents, publicists, aides, etc).

And you never know...in 1998, Russian President Boris Yeltsin and Japanese Prime Minister Ryutaro Hashimoto crashed a wedding and President Clinton crashed one in England in 2001.

I think if I had to invite someone, other than the President/First Lady of the USA, I'd probably go for Putin. He's such a badass...a really, really, scary one.

And, if you're curious to the address...as well as how to address the cards, here's how!

President of the United States and First Lady:
The Honorable Barack Obama and Mrs. Obama
The White House
Greetings Office Room 39
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue
Washington, DC, USA
20500

They also send out birthday wishes, (at maybe 100, I think...)

Characters at Disney World
Mickey and Minnie Mouse (or Cinderella and Prince Charming...etc)
The Magic Kingdom
1675 North Buena Vista Drive
Lake Buena Vista, Florida, USA
32830
 or

Mickey and Minnie Mouse (etc)
500 South Buena Vista Street
Burbank, California, USA
91521

Vatican-although I think they prefer the local channels, but just in case
The Pope
His Holiness Benedict XVI
Prefettura Della Casa Pontifica
00120 Citta Del Vaticano, Italia

Plus, here's a how-to for going through local channels. How to Receive a Papal Blessing

The Queen of England
The Secretary to Her Majesty
Queen Eliizabeth II of England
Buckingham Palace
London, England
SW1A 1AA

Plus, the Queen will also send birthday cards for milestone birthdays, and milestone anniversaries. Again, only for the Brits, the Welsh, the Scottish, Northern Irish, and places where the Queen is head of State. And that addy is
The Anniversaries Office
Buckingham Palace
London
SW1A 1AA
OR...the website royal.gov.uk

And as slightly creepy as this is...Fanmail.biz is the place to get addresses (for fan-mail I hope). Please don't use if for nefarious, creepy reasons.

And for anyone not really interested in weddings, or invitations from Presidents or Mickey Mouse...
Queen Elizabeth II's corgis coming off the plane...look at their little paws!
And while, I'm sure the real Queen Elizabeth II is not hatching mad plans to dissolve Canada's government, her (fake) twitter account has me constantly giggling.
