Target makes shirts in support of the LGBT community...angers Conservative Minnesota

I must say, I was quite proud of Target for this. Because I wasn't proud of them for giving money to that one group (a couple of years ago). Not to get too controversial, but I don't know why it's such a big deal to keep this whole separate but equal thing. Let everyone get hitched who wants to. I'll be glad just to find a boyfriend that doesn't have a drinking problem!

Target is selling t-shirts to support a group that hopes to strike down a gay marriage ban. And the one by Gwen Stefani is adorable.

One of the detractors in the article talks about the consumer base of Target. When I go shopping, the base at my store tends to be educated women, teenagers and children. Not really the people's he's thinking of I would think.

Cos Bar at Target

Target's newest collaboration is with a bunch of boutique shoppes. I've been trying to curtail my shopping habits so I didn't rush out right away and get any of the new stuff.

By the time I managed to get around to perusing Target, most of the stuff had been pretty picked over, but I still got some cute things from the Cos Bar "shoppe".

I've only managed to play with the two nail-polishes so far but I'm quite excited about the rest of the stuff.

From Target.com, purple (L) and bronze (R)

I'm not a massive fan of all the colors and packaging though. It's kinda strangely Halloween-ish. Not that it stopped me on the tweezers. But it's why I didn't get any bags or mirrors--not quite my style. I think it had to be a lot of other's peoples because the line was mostly sold out.

fab birthday gifts!

So the cost of going back to grad school has me a tad stressed. I'm probably going to have to get a laptop...plus all the textbooks, moving and school fees. Eek!

My dad thought way ahead though, and he bought me the Amazon Fire Kindle for my b-day. I'm pretty sure I can get a lot of my textbooks through it (ok...i HOPE i can get most of my textbooks through it because some of the schools I applied to are not in the USA). And because my daddy and brother are super awesome, they also got me a pink case and screen protector.

I downloaded all the free books I could...and it seems like some of them are torrid romance novels. I'm slightly terrified of them but my grandmommy was the harlequin romance queen. BOXES of those books were in her extra bedroom...I have no idea what happened to them either. There's some very full library somewhere!

I also got a new tape dispenser as a tease gift from my dad. I've been complaining because everyone steals MY tape dispenser so he went and got me one (from Scotch tape). It's so freaking cute! And I'm positive no one will steal it. Because let's be honest, my brother and dad are fairly macho...and this is definitely NOT macho.

I also got some ridiculously awesome see through note-tabs/stickey notes from Avery. I LOVE office supplies. I have a fully intact office. That I don't need. Because I don't work from home, and I don't have a job. But I'm super ready...for something. These notes are transparent (some are colored) that you can write on (over the writing on the page) or even highlight on. It's really ingenious and I've been wanting to use them on some of my books (that are more intellectual than say...Pride and Prejudice and Zombies).

Speaking of zombies, I also got a gift certificate to a bookstore and went a tad crazy...I got some fabulous books that I can't wait to read.

The Amandas did NeNe's closet

Y'all know who NeNe is right? NeNe Leakes from the Real Housewives of Atlanta (yes...I totally watch that one too...).

Anyways-Amanda LeBlanc and her Amandas (and Dustin of course) re-designed NeNe's closet on this week's episode. It's a drool worthy closet and I want to move in. stat. NeNe has so many drool worthy things plus I love her sassy self. Since the episode was last night, there haven't been a ton of new pics on the internet, but here's what I did find

Extra super fun links (no...seriously):

  • Another Real Housewife of Atlanta's closet...Marlo Hampton-I'm super jealous!
  • The Amandas Facebook page which has lots of fun pictures, ideas and also where you can buy the pink bag that all the girls use (its their total tool kit + Amanda approved organizing and design supplies). You can also go shopping in the Amandas store. That's right...there's a store. With fabulous, beautiful, organized things. I adore her.
  • These ladies got to meet Amanda and talk with her a bit. Here's that blog post.

Garden Love

It's not spring yet but there's not much of a winter where I live anyways. The stores have started stocking garden tools and accessories. Most of the stuff is fairly basic (and boring) while some of it has been adorable.

I'm not much of a garden person. I don't really like dirt or bugs (who live in the dirt) and the weather is muggy. But I do really, really love pretty gardens and I really like the nifty and cute garden tools. Almost enough to spend time creating a garden. Almost.

And yes, that's a chandelier (an "outdoor" one). Who doesn't need a bit of sparkle in the garden?

New Ottoman - tufted and gold!

I feel like I've linked a lot to Target this week. I don't mean to sound like a silly fan girl. Target (or Tar-jay for those of us in the know) is a quick hop and a jump up the road. So when I want to get out of the house but can't meet any friends then I hit up Target.

I've been drooling over this home furniture and accessories collection called "Golden Days". Other than the fact that I don't have a job at the moment or any extra space or any need for this stuff, I would have bought the whole collection. It's pretty blues, pinks, whites, golds, greens, tans...just lovely really.

I went today and a lot of the collection had been moved to the end of the aisles. Which is where Target puts it extra sale and clearance stuff. I bought the pouf for $35 and one of the glass perfume bottles (on the white table above) for about $6.

Now I just need to find a place to put them. . .
