First grad school app done plus more organizing/cleaning

So I officially (sort of) turned in my first ever grad school application! Yay!! The sort of was because I learned that my uploading skills are quite....uh...

Well, lets just say that this weekend I might plead for some of my more tech-savvy friends to explain how to alter PDFs in case I re-upload. You see, I can make them. I just don't know how to fix them.

One thing that completely confused me was the fact that I had to upload a picture for the application committee to look at. Because my passport photo looks like all sorts of hot messes I went up to CVS and got them to take another photo. They swore up and down (well, it was mostly half-assed promises) that it would be the perfect size. It wasn't. But luckily I found the "re-size" button on my computer (I got them to give it to me on a disk). Go me.

I turned in ALL my documents. Congratulated myself on not being a procrastinator (ok, not turning it in the day it was due). And then I checked my email. They had extended the deadline. I view this as divine intervention. It makes me even less of a procrastinator. Fabulous!

Tonight I'm going to chill out at home. I'm actually looking forward to it because I told all my friends and family that I was going to spending Friday night yelling at my computer and crying over my application. But since it's done I'm going to catch up on trashy TV shows and eat bad food.

Of course, this weekend is a different matter. I have to hit up the front hallway. Majorly clean that up. The house I'm living in hasn't been deep cleaned in years. At least seven. It's nasty. Well, perhaps that's not fair...it's clean for two guys (hi daddy and brother!) but it's making my eyes twitch living here among their version of "clean".

I'm thanking all sorts of heavens that my front hallway does NOT look like this. I mean...could you imagine cleaning it? Ick.

I am going to have to convert the front hall closet into dish storage. My mom has all sorts of dishes for the holidays. She would hit up Tuesday Mornings and get the cutest things. So my chore this weekend is to organize them and label them in some form of order.

I've got a ton of dish storage thingys that look like this

So we'll see how it goes. I'm shooting for this level or organized...except contained in those dish storage containers.

College Applications

My first college application is due on the tenth. As in...a few days. That tenth.

I think I should have everything in by tonight. Tomorrow at the latest. The goal was not to be a procrastinator. So I figure as long as I have it in before the tenth then I've got my stuff together.

I swear I'll have the other applications in at a better time. Eeek!

Real Housewives of Disney

Did you catch Lindsey Lohan on SNL? It's okay, I didn't either. I've been a bit busy actually, college application deadlines are coming up fast.

I don't think I can upload it straight from the web...but it's on this website. And if that doesn't work, I'll add it below as well.

LOVED Kristin Wiig's Cinderella.

Best line (Cinderella) - "Here's some good advice. Never marry a guy who's really into shoes".

Although this one cracked me up as well (Snow White) - "Looks like my stepmother isn't the only evil queen in town"

Russian Election

Let's talk about Putin. As in the one and only Vladimir Putin.

He won the election in Russia (I think? But here's 27 Reasons Why He Definitely Won). There's some concern among some of the Russian population. But I was utterly gobsmacked over a picture that ran.

That's Mr. Putin and his wife, Mrs. Lyudmila Putina. I had no idea he was married. It doesn't matter at all of course, but I can't believe I missed the fact. I mean. I know the man does other stuff. Like....

New Hair?

I think I need a new hairstyle or even color. I'm always envious of the girls that have cute hair. My hair is super thick. And if I do nothing to to it (other than brushing, I do brush my hair y'all) it's just wavy.

I tried the sock bun after watching youtube videos and my hair just got wavier...with no curls. If I want to curl my hair...it takes heat and looooooooots of hairspray. I'm probably single handedly causing the hole in the ozone layer.

As for color...I always stick in the brunette shades. I've gone really, really dark with red highlights and now really light brown. My poor hair stylist, Lacey, never knows what idea I'm going to bring to her. I've told her I wanted a mahogany color (yes...wood. I pointed to the front desk when I told her). And I've also brought her in a picture of Drew Barrymore (blonde Drew) and said "I want this...but not this".

I'm thinking Adele hair...but (poor Lacey) not Adele hair.

I'll just continue with the Harry Potter theme then...

So I watched the last movie and I thought it was pretty good. Luckily the scientists (in the article) figured out what's wrong with Harry Potter. Well, aside from having to defeat Voldemort, finish school and all the other teenage angst.

Harry Potter (character)

"Many neurologists have never heard of nummular headaches, says the lead author, Dr. Matthew Robbins, an assistant professor of neurology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and the director of inpatient services at the Montefiore Headache Center.

And that’s partly because these kinds of headaches have only recently been identified and codified, he explained.

The telling symptom pointing to nummular headaches, Robbins says, is that every time Harry suffers from head pain it’s in a small spot in exactly the same place.

Another line of evidence: nummular headaches can be sparked by a head injury, like the one that led to Harry’s lightning bolt scar."

So why do these scientists research crazy stuff like this? I like their answer and I think they have a point...plus it's fun!

"It’s a good way to educate the public about a condition that can occur in children and often goes unrecognized, Robbins says."

They've also diagnosed Darth Vader (here's that article).

Harry Potter

I have a confession.

I haven't seen the last Harry Potter movie. I have a reason, I promise!

I was about a week away from taking the GMAT, and I was panicked and in the (study) zone. I did partake in the "Butterbeer Latte" at the coffee place where I was studying

The Butterbeer Latte and my oh so pretty GMAT book

Also, the local cupcake shop made Harry Potter themed cupcakes

Pretty cool and delicious. But I never did go see the movie. Luckily Netflix has it and it's sitting on my counter as we speak. So tonight is a Harry Potter night.

Also, J.K. Rowling is writing another (non-Harry Potter) book.
